Magical Musical Mystery Tour -or- The Song Book I Write

For Patrizia

As Time Goes By -or- All You Need is Love

Music videos, poetry and dreams all tell stories. Some of those stories are narratives of love, its' destiny and destinations. Each generation enters the playing field of the dream of love thinking that they were the first. Often couples have "their song", which recalls the time they were dating. Casablanca's (the film) signature theme song As Time Goes By archetypally speaks to all of us who have loved "once upon a time". Feelings and songs of love are not restricted to couples, but also includes parents, friends and even pets. The Beatles have told us in their Magical Mystery Tour album All You Need is Love.

The Song Book I Write -or- Good Vibrations

Dreams of music can be traced back to ancient Greece and Rome, and most likely even further. Cicero's Dream of Scipio provides a musical voyage through the cosmos and would influence future music artists including Mozart. The modern popular music culture industry has produced many memorable songs. Rolling Stone has published their top 500 songs of all time. Casey Kasem in his internationally syndicated radio program American Top 40 continues to provide his audience with songs to remember.

The perennial kaleidescopic frame story of love's memories, fantasies and moods, allow us to experience the emotional color spectrum of love and can move us much like Dante's Divine Comedy from lyrical darkness to light. The dreams and music videos of a variety of music artists that are found as individual interpretations at this website, find a archetypal connection and poetic synthesis in a common plotline, namely the stories of love in all their vicissitudes. The music mirrors the dream of love's moods of comedy and tragedy; the thrills of love, the agonies of love, the grief and despair of lost love and the bitter resentment of failed love.

Many music videos speak of the dream of love, such as Shania Twain's Your Still The OneShania tells us, that her lover is the only one she dreams of. The psychologist Carl Gustav Jung, asked "what myth am I living?" in this context, I ask what songs you are dreaming? The kaleidescope of sound tracks of your dream diary will show you.

Hollywood Musical Dream Factory -or- That's the Entertainment of the Sound of Music

Once sound was added as an entertainment dimension of film, the birth of the musical was not far down the road. Since the 60's musicals such as "Hair", "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Saturday Night Fever", "Victor, Victoria", "All That Jazz", "Rochy Horror Picture Show", "Moulin Rouge", "Chicago", and "Across the Universe" are some of the stories set to music that have entertained us. Each of these films expressed their thoughts, ideas and feelings to the audience through their music. Dream soundtracks superimposed onto the oneiric visual images provide a musicological perspective of our dreams. As a universal form of media, music can have a therapeutic expressive archetypal effect.
